--- Comment #5 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2010-10-24 00:25:11 CDT --- The error dialogue is no longer present with Wine-1.3.5: a Direct3D driver selection screen is shown instead, where you can choose the D3D driver and the screen resolution. After pressing on <OK> the game will start; provided you checked the 'never use DirectSound' option in the previous menu, otherwise the game will crash.
Please, check again the game using a more recent version of Wine.

The crash has evolved and I think this is the new agressor:
surface.c:5131: unsafe_impl_from_IDirect3DTexture2: Assertion `iface->lpVtbl == &d3d_texture2_vtbl' failed.
The game is very small (2Mb) and it's easy to test.

--- Comment #20 from karl@huftis.org karl@huftis.org 2013-01-06 10:03:02 CST --- I’m *not* consistently experiencing this problem on Wine 1.5.20. The game does crash, but usually *after* displaying the in-game 3D menu. The menu works, the music is playing, but when trying to start the game (by selecting ‘Start Game’ or ‘Single Map’), Wine crashes. Note that Wine does *sometime* crash after selecting the graphics options, but often it does not. On a few occations I’ve even managed to get to the actual game part, but this is very rare.
To sum up, this is what I’m experiencing:
Crashes after selecting graphics options: Sometimes Crashes after selecting ‘Start Game’: Almost always Doesn’t crash after selecting ‘Start Game’: Very rarely
This is on a 64 bit computer with a GeForce GTS 450 graphics card running openSUSE 12.2.
