Bug #: 31533 Summary: Copy from Onenote 2010 to linux native or even wine apps fails Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: atulkakrana@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Hello All,
I am using Wine 1.5 and have installed Microsoft office 2010 X86 version. The problem is that when I copy something from onenote and try to paste on linux application i.e gedit, open office or even on Wine apps i.e MS word, ONENOTE crashes and restarts.
This makes it impossible to copy anything (mainly text) from ONENOTE to any other app. Same bug has been reported before (Bug 18242) for ONENOTE 2007 but it is abandoned at this moment.
It is because of this bug smoothly working ONENOTE becomes unusable. Strange this is but no such problem occurs with other products such as MS word, presentation 2010.
I hope that this bug is fixed ASAP.
Thanks
Atul

--- Comment #2 from Atul Kakrana atulkakrana@gmail.com 2012-08-23 09:05:57 CDT --- Hello Dan,
I installed office like this:
1. Created a new wine prefix
export WINEARCH=win32 export WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.mynewwine32prefix/
2. Run Winecfg for new prefix
WINEPREFIX=~/.mynewwine32prefix winecfg
Add few libraries in native/builtin form riched20,riched32 and wininet.dll
3. Installed Office in new prefix
WINEPREFIX="/home/atul/.mynewwine32prefix" wine "/home/abc/Microsoft_office_iso/x86/setup.exe"
I am not being able to start the program from commandline as it gives me an error 'IOPL not enabled' in a window. To generate the log I changed to the ONENOTE.EXE directory from terminal and run:
wine ONENOTE.EXE &> ~/log.txt
Please tell how else can I generate the log.
Thanks
Atul

--- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-08-23 09:31:07 CDT --- Does the warning not happpen when you start office some other way?
That "IOPL not enabled" warning seems to have many causes. See bug 9422 and the replies to https://jeremy.visser.name/2008/08/iopl-not-enabled-with-visio-2003-in-wine/ If you still have trouble after trying the ideas there, ask again on forum.winehq.org (bugzilla is not a good place for this particular question).

Does the warning not happpen when you start office some other way?
No I don't get any such warning when I use MS ONENOTE normally that is from icon. It just works fine except the copy/paste bug.
I am getting this IOPL error only when I run from command line.
Thanks

--- Comment #5 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-08-23 10:02:24 CDT --- Are you setting WINEPREFIX properly when starting from commandline? e.g.
WINEPREFIX="/home/atul/.mynewwine32prefix" wine ONENOTE.EXE &> ~/log.txt

Hello Dan,
WINEPREFIX="/home/atul/.mynewwine32prefix" wine ONENOTE.EXE &> ~/log.txt
This is what I was thinking. Thanks it started the ONENOTE.
Steps I did to reproduce problem and generate log:
1. Run ONENOTE by WINEPREFIX="/home/atul/.mynewwine32prefix" wine ONENOTE.EXE &> ~/log.txt
2. Copied a line from ONENOTE and tried to paste in Gedit(Linux) 3. ONENOTE crashed and asked me to recover the work, which I choose to do 4. Exit Onenote, which made onenote crash again and asked me to recover the work which I denied to shut down ONENOTE.
Thanks

I'm getting the crash in 1.7.52. Will happen when copying and pasting text inside OneNote 2010 (OneNote Version 14.0.6023.1000).

--- Comment #13 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- I tested OneNote 2010 in 3.9, and cannot reproduce the problem. I tested copying and pasting both text and images, to and from OneNote, to and from both native (LibreOffice Writer) and Wine (Word 2010) apps, and it never crashed.
Marking fixed.
