--- Comment #1 from Manoa manoa@manoa.flnet.org --- I tested this game with version 1.9.14 but I get a slightly different bug: the entire system is frozen when starting the game (before even getting to the menu), had to press reset

--- Comment #2 from winetest@luukku.com --- What gpu and how much memory it has?
You should not get similar lines to this.
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x1d94a8: "GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY error generated. Failed to allocate memory for texture.".
Maybe the reason for system freeze too.

--- Comment #3 from Manoa manoa@manoa.flnet.org --- GPU: GeForce GTX 780 Ti, 3 GB RAM, nVidia driver, im going to boot Linux now to give log and more information
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40163
--- Comment #4 from Manoa manoa@manoa.flnet.org --- nVidia driver: 358.16 I confirm that there are no "GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY error generated. Failed to allocate memory for texture." in the wine output but this time it didn't crash, so the bug is not constant

the lines: err:d3d9:d3d9_surface_Release Surface doesn't have any references. go on for much longer than they seem, they are many times more than what is shown this log is up to loading the game into the menu
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40163
--- Comment #7 from winetest@luukku.com --- fixme:d3d:wined3d_dxtn_init Wine cannot find the txc_dxtn library, DXTn software support unavailable.
Ubuntu based distros: sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0.
Don't know if it has any impact on this bug, but its still worth to install. The name varies from distro to distro.

--- Comment #8 from winetest@luukku.com --- Is this game in steam? I just tried few days ago GRID with no issues. But the name is just Grid so it's not the same game?
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40163
--- Comment #9 from winetest@luukku.com --- Also bug 42064 says that it installs and runs, until it crashes. And the wine versions is the same. The crash looks like it's in gpu driver.

I checked today on wine-5.14.r0.g70b735760e WINEARCH=win64 gog version (manually patched `IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE` byte in File header) some info about test spec: archlinux, 5.7.11 kernel, NVIDIA driver 450.56.02 I сan normally enter the graphics settings (and even successfully changed the `multisampling` setting several times) (I even passed the introductory race and did not see any problems. except that after closing without a virtual desktop, the game will not restore my previous screen resolution) but I didn't notice the bug presented in the title of this issue
