Using Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, with wine64 wine-1.7.55 from ubuntu-wine-ppa-trusty. Broke some days ago. Not sure when, yet.

Wine 1.8-rc1 still has the error. If that's truly the commit that broke the game then it should be added as regression id field, the patch maker should be added as cc. You can still test if it's correct patch that you revet all changes in wine code and just revert that specific commit and recompile wine and start the game with it. The faq has info how to do this. I don't remember the all steps myself either.
