Bug ID: 52137 Summary: World of Warcraft (WoW) crashes in both DX11 modes Product: Wine Version: 6.22 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: blue-t@web.de Distribution: ---
Created attachment 71184 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=71184 DX11 (modern renderer)
For me the game boots find, gets to the character selection screen and when the progress bar finishes and the character should enter the world, the game crashes.
ACCESS_VIOLATION : error 132: ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal exception! The instruction at "0x00007f4222f8e937" referenced memory at "0x000000000000001c". The memory could not be "written".
This happens for DX11 modern and DX11 legacy mode but so far hasn't occurred with DX12.

--- Comment #2 from Henri Verbeet hverbeet@gmail.com --- I'm fairly sure this used to work. Is this a Wine regression, or is this caused by an application update?

--- Comment #3 from Ker noa blue-t@web.de --- Could very well be both, haven't used both applications in a while.
Results from a little bit of testing:
6.22 STAGING
BC Classic 2.5.2 DX11 Both Modes -> Crash Classic Era 1.14.1 DX11 Both Modes -> Crash Retail 9.1.5 DX11 Both Modes -> Crash PTR Retail 9.2 DX11 Both Modes -> Crash
6.20 STAGING Retail 9.1.5 DX11 Modern, looks funky with black outlines around mountains, but works ingame. Crashes on Exit with a seemingly identical #132 memory could not be written

It has worked randomly from time to time it seems from the multitude of WoW bugs posted. Not sure how many actually plays WoW using WineD3D these days? Hard to get any good logs or test results.
I haven't used WineD3D or upstream vkd3d in a couple of expansions (atleast not after 8.2), and atm i do not play WoW at all.. so can't really test further i am afraid.

--- Comment #5 from Ker noa blue-t@web.de --- Yea, and many of them are made by me ;) If you need extended logs, maybe from compiled older versions of wine, non staging, whatever , let me know. Just running Kubuntu Impish and there are just 2 versions of wine released so far for it.
