I, too, thought at first that it was hanging, until I noticed a dotnet icon in my system tray. Clicking on it brought up the message from the installer that dotnet had been installed, and when I closed that dialog, the winetricks script completed, reporting success. It seems the final notification window is minimizing itself for some reason."
Just ran into this myself with wine-1.3.1.

this is expected behaviour and documented for years in appdb (.NET 3.0 entry). It seems appdb is still neglected even by long timers.

This is expected. The installer is minimized to systray (what's missing here is a balloon tooltip, indicating the action). Double click installer icon in systray to restore the dialog window. --- appdb quote ---
Upon minimize the installer ought to display a ballon style tooltip from its systray icon, indicating the minimize action (there should be some FIXME in console at this point). At the end of installation another tooltip ought to be displayed from installer's systray icon. Closing the tooltip terminates the installer properly.

Well, I get both ones, the initial and the final one (after language packs installation step).
The final one should be closable/dismissable on its on (you have to click on tray icon itself several times) but this is another bug.
You could make your issue a new bug, providing window manager info, +systray,+tooltips,+win,+msg trace log and the like for AJ.
