Visual C++ 2010 Express Installer (vc_web.exe, SHA256 9CF657B2A8E4A3DEEC1AA820DD60540D000BF1E6A5AE84920E93D698C293B2FC, downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/), fails with the following message a few seconds after I run it:
^ Setup has encountered a problem while trying to copy: /!\ C:/{128-bit hex}/$shtdwn$.req ----- Press Retry to attempt the copy again. Press Cancel to cancel setup.

Visual C++ 2010 Express is failing to install on wine-1.5.18 and Ubuntu Linux 12.04 - 64bit. The package was downloaded directly from Microsoft's website.
