Summary: regression MS Office 2000 and 2007 programs crash Product: Wine Version: 1.3.16 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ftoth@telfort.nl
With wine 1.3.15 MS Office 2000 and 2007 programs work nicely (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
However starting from 1.3.16 the crash. When starting on my monitor the application (either Word Excel or Powerpoint) open as a quarter size of my screen.
They immediately crash when I try to resize the window. I think other operation crash as well (file open/save).
Reverting back to 1.2.2 everything works again.
Today tested with 1.3.17 but now the apps report 'not installed' on start.
Reverting back to 1.2.2 everything works again.
I use the ubuntu ppa (maverick) build on 32-bit maverick and the same on debian amd64 squeeze.

--- Comment #2 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2011-04-05 08:04:18 CDT --- Not happening here (Office 2007). Is this a clean wineprefix: no native dlls, no other apps installed?

--- Comment #3 from Ferry Toth ftoth@telfort.nl 2011-04-05 14:37:25 CDT --- Created an attachment (id=33953) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=33953) winword2000 crash log
Tested to today on Kubuntu Maverick with Word2007 with wine 1.3.17, works OK.
It appears the regression in 1.3.16 regressed back in 1.3.17 for Word2007.
Word2000 with wine 1.3.17 crashes with message "bla bla this application has not been installed". (So crashes differently then with 1.3.16). See attached log.
I have not performed a regression test, so do not have the data asked.
My wine is indeed not a clean install, and a bunch of dll's have been overrided by native as without word2000 will not run at all under any version.
When I revert to 1.2.2 the configuration is again updated by wine and word runs again.

Removing 2007 from summary.
My wine is indeed not a clean install, and a bunch of dll's have been overrided by native as without word2000 will not run at all under any version.
According to the AppDB, mfc42.dll is the only native dll needed to install Office 2000 in current Wine.
Please retest with mfc42 as the only override.

--- Comment #5 from Ferry Toth ftoth@telfort.nl 2011-04-06 15:42:37 CDT --- Allright, then also set Version to 1.3.17.
Is there any file that I can save so I can restore my current overides after done testing?

--- Comment #6 from Ferry Toth ftoth@telfort.nl 2011-04-08 16:01:39 CDT --- Well , what do you know. Wineconfig does not show that I have a mfc42.dll.
So I can not set the override.
Then I tried winetricks to install mfc42.dll, which worked. But still wineconfig does not show the dll.
What next?

Wine does not provide that dll, so winecfg doesn't list it.

What next?
Do you still have the same problem with a fresh install of Office 2000 with mfc42 as the only native dll?

Can't confirm. Resizing of Word2000's window works fine here. Tested and works under: * wine-1.3.16, 1.3.17, wine-1.3.24-174-g4b4dd30
On top of clean wine environment i run "winetricks mfc42". After MFC42 was installed i began to install Office2000 with standard options. Can't reproduce in Word2000, Excel2000, opening/saving files together combined with window's resizing.
Feel free to add regression keyword back, after you follow the regression test mention in comment #1.

--- Comment #10 from Ferry Toth ftoth@telfort.nl 2011-07-17 11:42:10 CDT --- I can't easily do a fresh install. If I use wine1.2.3 Word starts normally and works fine.
When I upgrade to current wine1.3.24 Word starts, complains it is not installed and exits.
After downgrading to wine1.2.3 it again runs normally.
This is exactly the same installation that worked fined with 1.3.15.
