Summary: Counter-Strike: Source crashes, if someone hits someone else with the G-3 autosniper Product: Wine Version: 1.1.5 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: matteo.hausner@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=16444) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16444) Console output of hl2.exe
Counter-Strike: Source crashes, if someone on the server (palyer himself, other player or bot) uses the terrorists' G-3 autosniper weapon and HITS someone else.
Judging by the console output of hl2.exe, it seems to be a direct-sound error: "Backtrace: err:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne Fatal error. Under/Overflow? primary_done=20608, mixpos=23448/71332 (21544/65536), primary_mixpos=5024, writepos=49952, mixlen=0"
This error was reportet several times in the AppDB: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3731
And it seems to exist since a quite long time: at least since 9.61
Again: This bug does ONLY occur if someone uses the G-3 autosniper, that is only available to the terrorist fraction, and if the bullets strike another players body.

So if you turn off sound, this doesn't happen?
Negative, even with the sound off (starting CSS with parameter -nosound) the error occurs.

--- Comment #6 from Matteo Hausner matteo.hausner@gmail.com 2009-01-19 12:43:34 --- I found out that this bug does not occur with a display resolution of 1920x1200. Yet in Wine 1.1.13 common 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 resolutions like 1024*768, 1280*1024 or 1600x900. I did not test any other resolutions than the above. But it according to some other users nearly everyone seems to have this problem. So it looks like this bug has not anything to do with the sound as we intended before. I hope this helps to finally get rid of this nasty problem.

--- Comment #8 from Lars-Philip Kramer larsphilip@gmx.de 2009-01-19 16:02:16 --- If this is really only related to the resolution (can't test it, my monitor can't handle that kind of a high res), surely it can be fixed. Because this is the only thing that stands between CSS and a platinum rating for me.
