Bug #: 33756 Summary: Formula symbols get outside formula frame Product: Wine Version: 1.5.26 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: gdiplus AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: b7.10110111@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 44698 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44698 Test document
See test document. Here are screenshots of how it worked at wine 1.5.16 [1] and currently [2] (since 1.5.26 when bug 32661 was fixed). Although it's a regression, I'm not sure how I could bisect it because bug 32661 blocks testing. Also, if you try putting cursor to the right of second formula and try typing several letters, overtyping ghost 'r' letter, the formula will disappear. This could have something to do with new font rendering since all fonts have been extended to the right if you compare these images by switching from one to another, so component selection might be wrong.

Does 'winetricks gdiplus' work around the problem?

Is this still Word 2003?
Yes, sorry for not mentioning it.
Does 'winetricks gdiplus' work around the problem?
Yes, it fixes all the problems with equation rendering, including first equation, for which there's bug 21952. (Current one isn't a duplicate because it appeared after bug 32661 was fixed and wasn't present when bug 21952 was reported).

--- Comment #3 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Tested in 1.7.30; the symbols in the test document are all inside the frame. They are still positioned incorrectly, but that's bug 21952.
Marking fixed.

--- Comment #4 from Ruslan Kabatsayev b7.10110111@gmail.com --- I still reproduce it with wine-1.7.30-23-gf5e3281. It may depend on fonts installed in the system, or maybe on language of Word.

--- Comment #5 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- My version of Word 2003 is English, and I do have the msttcorefonts installed systemwide.

--- Comment #6 from Ruslan Kabatsayev b7.10110111@gmail.com --- Strangely, on Ubuntu my Russian Word 2003 version works correctly, while on LFS machine, with the same times.ttf font which is used for the formula, I reproduce the bug. It still seems to be a problem in wine, because setting WINEDLLOVERRIDES="gdiplus=n" works around the glitch. I'll try to find what's different between these machines.

--- Comment #10 from Ruslan Kabatsayev b7.10110111@gmail.com --- (In reply to Ken Sharp from comment #9) As I've written in comment 0, bisection would be hard because bug 32661 blocks testing. I might be able to patch each bisect stage with the fix for it though, maybe I'll try to do this.
