Tried to install Kindle windows app and recieved 'wine c++ error' it said hit cancel button to enter debugger. I hit cancel button and wine simply ended and did NOT enter the debuger? using latest wine for linux mint 20.2 repository lptop has i7 intel processor and 32gb ram

Kindle install gets further. It now presents an amazon login window but then crashes and debugger error says "a program crashed but WineDbg was unable to attach to the process to obtain a backtrace"
Degugger window says; "can't attach process 02bc error 8"
The kindle program insaller is a free download from amazon its name is; KindleForPC-installer-1.39.65383.exe I will also attach it. you should get 2 attachments. I'm willing to try any suggestions to help getting it resolved

screen print shows the error althoough it got farther than orignal test with wine 5.0. This time it opend a login window to amazon then crashed.

--- Comment #6 from steve donato stevedonato@gmail.com --- The program can be downloaded from Amazon or simply search for; Kindle App for windows. The download is a single kindle install exe. When you run it (under wine) it runs and unpackes itself then installs a symboli link on the desktop, but then presents a window to login to amazon, and click anything on that window or just wait and it crashes. From then on you can simply click the symbolic link it created on the desktop and the same install/crash happens again. May be easier to trace/instruction step at that point. good luck

Hello, I have the same problem as OP, I tried both wine 32-bit and 64-bit using wine version 8.0, and after login, the problem crashes directly, at first I thought it was because of the two-step verification. Still, the problem persists even after disabling it.
I tried both logging in with the default option and to amazon.co.jp both fail.
