From your log:
wine: glibc >= 2.3 without NPTL or TLS is not a supported combination. It will most likely crash. Please upgrade to a glibc with NPTL support.
Nothing more to add - invalid.

--- Comment #3 from Peter Popov ppopov@hotmail.com 2008-06-08 16:43:20 --- The "glibc >= 2.3 without NPTL or TLS is not a supported combination." has nothing to do with it:
1. The 0.9.45 version of wine, which ran the application fine, was showing the same thing. 2. Actually, NPTL support IS ENABLED in my glibc. The kernel (2.4) does not have posix threads.

--- Comment #6 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-06-08 17:33:38 --- What distribution are you running that has such an old kernel?
Wine's minimum system requirements have changed over the years. We consider that the price of progress, not a regression.

--- Comment #7 from Peter Popov ppopov@hotmail.com 2008-06-08 18:29:29 --- Gentlemen, this is hardly a posix issue. It seems an InstallShield problem. Several different version of the actual InstallShield also crash. The actual application (Delphi) runs just fine. And, as I explained, threading is not an issue (delphi 2 setup runs just fine on wine 0.9.45).
The attitude "No you fix that first" is more than bizzare. I am giving feedback on your product. I spent 6+ hours compiling wine on my machine. I know (based on 20 years of programming experience) that if I install wine on a recent kernel the same thing will happen. I am not going to lose more time on what is obviously a wine bug.
If you want, I can give you the application so you can debug. If you don't want to fix it - its fine with me. It is your software, afer all. I don't care that much. And, don't expect more bug reports from me.

--- Comment #8 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-06-08 18:38:58 --- Sorry about the brusque replies - Vitaliy's bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired - but he's right, we really don't support old kernels anymore. I'd be happy to test the app here.

Sure. If you don't have it, let me know of a convenient way to send it.

What has this anything to do with the matter???
If some one has their system screwed up and don't want to admit it fix it how is that a not an indication of the problem???

--- Comment #13 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-06-08 21:39:18 --- Yes, Peter, this should remain closed unless we can demonstrate it on a modern Linux.

--- Comment #14 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2008-06-09 01:02:56 --- It still should be possible to perform a regression test as requested in the comment #10.

--- Comment #15 from Alexandre Julliard julliard@winehq.org 2008-06-09 04:03:24 --- A regression test is useless, that crash is clearly caused by the broken setup.
Note that we do still support old kernels, as long as you use a corresponding old glibc. What doesn't work and cannot work is a new glibc with an old kernel.
