--- Comment #3 from programmer11180@programist.ru --- Starcraft not simply hangs - it crashes. Later I will check work on 1.7.17 and I will upload a log.

--- Comment #8 from kolAflash colAflash@gmx.net --- I'm experiencing this Problem only on a Radeon X1600 and on a Radeon HD 6450, using the open-source "radeon" drivers.
On my Intel Core-i7 integrated graphic everything is fine! (no bug)
I'm using this software (on all my systems): OS: openSUSE 13.2 Wine: wine-1.7.38
Workaround that works for me: Using wine-1.6.2

--- Comment #9 from Martin Fontaigne martinrs@softhome.net --- I can confirm that wine-1.7.38 fixes the crashing problem (not sure if this bug is related to the crash, but it was at least mentioned in comment 3).

--- Comment #10 from Lauri Kenttä lauri.kentta@gmail.com --- lspci: AMD/ATI Wrestler [Radeon HD 7340]
After 1-2 minutes (varies) the game starts to react to input and produce sound and apparently "works" without too much lag BUT the screen stays still black. Sometimes the game manages to play the Blizzard intro screen sound immediately when started, so apparently there's no inherent lag in the startup but only somewhere later.
With Xnest, the game displays correctly and actually works better than I remembered. (Unfortunately, running two instances simultaneously makes them both lag.) With Xephyr, it's the black screen.
Conclusion: not working. I'm not entirely sure if there's any change, because I didn't test it like this before.

Maybe it's a compositor bug? Try to disable effects.
It's not. I'm mostly using Fluxbox (thus, no effects), and this happens also without any compositor at all. (And how exactly would this be a compositor bug when there's a clear regression in Wine?)

Duplicate?
Unsure.
