The installer from http://unity3d.com/unity/download/ seems to work,
but when you run Unity.exe for the first time, it fails after you click
'Register online' on the initial dialog.  A +chain,+crypt,+wininet log shows:

It is reported that Unity uses Internet Explorer in some views of its windows.
Installing Internet Explorer 8 might have resolved this issue.

Hello folks,

I can't reproduce this, works fine here (trial registration).
Resolving 'fixed'.

Used the following 'winetricks' extension verb:
