Summary: Acclaim Cashbook startup failure - recompile visual basic Product: Wine Version: 0.9.58. Platform: PC URL: http://www.acclaim.co.nz/download.htm OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: pcpavnz@gmail.com
Install routine executes properly, but when trying to run the installed program, an error message pops up with a message about having to recompile the visual basic module. I suspect the message indicates the cashbook program is what it thinks requires recompiling, not the environment it is running from, but thought I'd submit it anyway because so many people want accounting software packages to work inside Linux and wine is so close very now to getting it right.
url provided in the report form is for the free 90 day trial download, which is no different to a full version.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-04-07 23:25:39 --- Works fine for me in git, though requires dcom98 before the buttons to start a new cashbook/etc work.

--- Comment #3 from Michael Pavletich pcpavnz@gmail.com 2008-04-08 05:07:48 --- Thanks for your reply Austin, though I'm not sure what to do with it, still a newbie. What is git and am I to try installing dcom98 when the default emulation is now XP? Please excuse my ignorance.

Git = Current development branch , see http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine As for dcom98: $ wget http://kegel.com/winetricks $ sh winetricks dcom98

--- Comment #5 from Michael Pavletich pcpavnz@gmail.com 2008-04-09 07:57:41 --- Thanks Austin. The wget url was wrong, but I worked it out. wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
Cashbook Complete appears to work fine now, apart from a regional coding issue asking me to adjust the windows control panel (tied to my datafile, not a problem with the program)
Should I be marking this as fixed, or leave it as is for the time being because a work-around was used?

Sorry about that, I forget that extra directory.
The issue you originally report appears to be fixed, but let's adjust the summary for the button issue.

I guess it's unrelated to original problem, and looks pretty much like a bug 15781.
