Summary: Shadow Plan helplessly crashes on Windows XP, with an "Unhandled page fault" message. Product: Wine Version: 1.1.31 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.codejedi.com/shadowplan/downloads.html OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: aylons@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=25816) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25816) Output of WINEDEBUG=+relay wine Shadow.exe, 100 last lines.
Just after launching, the software crashes displaying the usual GUI notice from Wine asking the bug to be reported if needed. This happens even before GUI showing up.
A possible workaround is to set the Windows Version to Windows 98 or Me, even though the program runs just fine in real Windows XP, Vista or 7.
My system is a Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated and the wine package is the 1.1.31 availabe at wine repo for ubuntu.
The Shadow Plan version is the latest available, 4.3.1, and the command used was simply "wine Shadow.exe" in the program's directory. Adding +relay option didn't produce any perceptible effect (unless, of course, slowing things down).

--- Comment #2 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2010-01-21 03:35:38 --- It also might be worth testing with a more recent version of Wine, latest git or 1.1.36.

--- Comment #3 from Aylons Hazzud aylons@gmail.com 2010-01-21 12:12:02 --- Ok, just to make me look silly, even I cannot reproduce this problem anymore. I haven't update Wine, I didn't change any library override... I just can't imagine how it happened. Surely, something DID happen, but I can't figure what.
Now, I change the software to Windows XP or even 7 ou 2008 and it runs ok, with only some fixme showing up. In fact, I can even toss Shadow.exe exceptions from the appplication settings window and it still runs fine.

--- Comment #4 from Aylons Hazzud aylons@gmail.com 2010-01-21 12:14:55 --- BTW, the problem it was having was something like this:
(..)Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000055 at address(...)
Futher I can't tell because I cannot reproduce the problem any more. This was a search I made in google before posting the bug report.
