--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2007-12-31 07:26:56 --- Excellent work, Yolande, thanks!
I just verified that J2SE jre 5 update 14 (the one currently downloadable) hangs as you describe with Friday's git, and that reverting that patch hides or solves the hang. Confirming, adding keywords regression, download, installer. Setting target 1.0.
Something else may also be amiss, though, as I see the error err:heap:HEAP_ValidateInUseArena Heap 0x110000: in-use arena 0x139950 next block has PREV_FREE flag before the hang. A later run with the hang fixed also shows the problem. Rerunning with warn+heap shows instead warn:heap:HEAP_ValidateInUseArena Heap 0x110000: invalid in-use arena magic 00aaaaaa for 0x139a48 There's some chance this is part of the problem, who knows.

--- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-01-11 23:30:56 --- Not for me -- it's still hanging. Additional Comments: Please do not PASTE logs and back traces, (attach them instead).

--- Comment #5 from Yolande Haneder yolande@haneder.biz 2008-01-12 00:06:42 --- It's still hanging for me. Note that (also earlier) if you run once more the setup with modify and modify nothing, it will go through however. I think that is not much and it is not checked the second time.
(I attach log only for clarity between a comment like you are doing yourself. Full logs are always attached).

--- Comment #7 from Yolande Haneder yolande@haneder.biz 2008-03-01 04:43:36 --- How recent must it be? On thursday's GIT it was not fixed.

--- Comment #8 from Stefan Dösinger stefandoesinger@gmx.at 2008-03-01 04:48:20 --- That's recent enough. So still some bpp bugs left.

--- Comment #10 from Lionel Debroux lionel_debroux@yahoo.fr 2008-03-25 07:50:40 --- This bug and bug #7477 (both nominated for 1.0) look like duplicate bugs, don't they ?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10984
--- Comment #11 from Yolande Haneder yolande@haneder.biz 2008-03-25 08:06:18 --- Maybe it looks like the same, but this bug had only been revealed as the "hack" as per the patch had been removed. Prior to 0.9.52 it was working. This would be only the same if bug # 7477 was not to be found in 0.9.51. It would have been closed by then.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10984
--- Comment #12 from Lionel Debroux lionel_debroux@yahoo.fr 2008-03-25 08:57:12 --- You're right, since bug #7477 was first reported with Wine 0.9.31.
What made me think that they looked like duplicates, is that both bugs have something to do with depth / bpp, and both reports (here, bug report start; there, 12th comment) state that the J2RE 5.0 update 10/14 hangs on "publishing product information". And I noticed that the intersection of the reporter + CC lists of these two bugs is almost empty (only Dan Kegel currently).

--- Comment #13 from Yolande Haneder yolande@haneder.biz 2008-03-25 09:09:48 --- It may also be that it is an years old version of Java, and maybe the newest version is installing properly and thus interesting nobody.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10984
--- Comment #14 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-03-25 11:06:12 --- Even old versions of Java are interesting if they are bundled inside java-based installers; it's hard to use a different version with them.

--- Comment #18 from Alexandre Julliard julliard@winehq.org 2008-04-21 10:02:57 --- The change went in after 0.9.60. You have to test current git, or wait for 0.9.61.

--- Comment #21 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2009-05-29 19:00:35 --- Bugs marked "HP, Linux" probably should have been marked "PC, Linux" as HP really is for HP's HP-PA or Itanium systems, and very few people have those.
