Bug ID: 35167 Summary: Atom Zombie Smasher (Steam version) doesn't start with Wine Mono 4.5.2 Product: Wine Version: 1.7.8 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: mscoree Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: madewokherd@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Regression SHA1: 608b1e141457dc9653d4783419aa6492ea705d99
Created attachment 46913 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=46913 terminal output
I have this problem only with the Steam version of the game, but can't reproduce it with the non-Steam demo or full version of the game. The 'atomzombiesmasher.exe' process constantly uses 100% CPU upon starting, but nothing happens, the game never loads. Terminal output doesn't contain anything useful I guess.
The game starts fine with Wine Mono 0.0.8:
608b1e141457dc9653d4783419aa6492ea705d99 is the first bad commit commit 608b1e141457dc9653d4783419aa6492ea705d99 Author: Vincent Povirk vincent@codeweavers.com Date: Wed Dec 4 11:04:21 2013 -0600
mscoree: Update Wine Mono to 4.5.2.
Demo version is available on Steam, but I can't confirm that it has the same problem as the full version. http://store.steampowered.com/app/55040/

--- Comment #2 from Vincent Povirk madewokherd@gmail.com --- I don't know what's going on here. I can't get any output logged from Mono, the last thing mscoree does is call mono_jit_exec, I can't get a stack trace from any exceptions, and if I try for a stack trace of the process (which does stick around), all I get is raise_trap_exception.

Warhammer 40K:Dawn of War GOTY Edition and it's expansion Winter Assault received some updates recently on Steam, and now these 2 games also hit this bug. The game executable consumes 100% CPU upon starting but the game never loads. I get this from winedbg:
raise_trap_exception () at /home/gyebro/sources/wine-git/dlls/ntdll/signal_i386.c:1863

'winetricks dotnet20' is needed to start these games in Wine nowadays.

--- Comment #4 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- This is fixed in Wine 1.7.32/33 and with Wine Mono 4.5.4 installed. Just make sure that the TZ (timezone) environmental variable is set. The other games affected by this bug also start in recent Wine, at least the intro videos play then the games crash with some "Exception frame is not in stack limits => unable to dispatch exception" error which could be a different issue.
