Bug ID: 45286 Summary: when running microsoft office 2010 or 2007 it crashes at opening time Product: Wine Version: 3.9 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: oleaut32 Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: i.bilux@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 61545 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=61545 debug file
when running microsoft office 2010 or 2007 it crashes at opening time. i have tried everything, but it wont work ! the bug is in both wine staging 3.8 and 3.9. however wine staging 3.7 works fine.
eventually i copied the "oleaut32.dll.so" file from wine staging 3.7 to wine staging 3.9 and it WORKED FINE ! ! !
so i'm pretty sure the fault is in the "oleaut32.dll.so" file.
good luck and thank you.

--- Comment #1 from bilux i.bilux@gmail.com --- Here is the lines that suggest me to copy and override the "oleaut32.dll.so" file from wine staging 3.7 to wine staging 3.9.

--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- Not critical.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- Does the crash only occur in staging, or both staging and vanilla wine?

--- Comment #4 from Lukáš Krejčí lskrejci@gmail.com --- Looks like a duplicate of bug 45199.

--- Comment #5 from bilux i.bilux@gmail.com --- I only tried wine and wine staging.
It seems that the problem is only in Arch !
I will try to do a regression testing.

If it's bug 45199, a regression test won't do much good. A better way to confirm would be to compile Wine with -O1.

I don't think it's the same bug.
I only copied the "oleaut32.dll.so" file from wine staging 3.7 to wine staging 3.9 and it WORKED FINE !
However users in bug 45199 didn't succeed to patch the bug by doing the same step.

--- Comment #8 from Andrey Gusev andrey.goosev@gmail.com --- How it works for me:
1. Fresh Office 2010 installation. 2. Using native oleaut32 as 'native, builtin'. 3. First launch works fine. 4. Second launch crashes with 'Call from 0x7b43c6fb to unimplemented function api-ms-win-core-localization-private-l1-1-0.dll.NlsGetCacheUpdateCount' 5. Third launch says: "Word has detected a problem with the existing Normal.dotm. Would you like to create a new Normal.dotm?" Clicking 'Yes' makes it works fine again, clicking 'No' causes a crash as of step above.

--- Comment #9 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- It seems we should close this now, it's not clear if there was ever an issue in oleaut32 in particular, or was it some disturbance caused by build options or similar. I don't recall native oleaut32 being ever necessary for Office 2007/2010.

Yes, this bug didn't occur in all the newer wine version, as I have been updating every version that have been released.
