Bug ID: 38047 Summary: NtQuerySystemInformation needs to report basic system parameters properly Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: kernel32 Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: yuri@tsoft.com Distribution: ---
ZBrush (computer graphics software) fails with the message "We have detected that your operating system falls outside ZBrush's current system requirements." What they check is probably processor type, speed and memory size. NtQuerySystemInformation should report realistic values in these fields.
The above message appears after wine printed this: fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation stub info_class SYSTEM_PROCESSOR_PERFORMANCE_INFORMATION

--- Comment #1 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
that FIXME message is completely harmless.
You might want to check with the vendor homepage for actual app requirements: http://pixologic.com/zbrush/system/
You bug report lacks basic information, such as:
* Wine version used * ZBrush application version used (4R6? 4R7?) * changes to Wine environment * if the installer refuses to *install* or the installed app refuses to *start*
I've tested with 4R6 (not even most recent release) which requires Vista+ setting.
One must assume you tried to install with recent Wine 1.7.35/36 and default WINEPREFIX settings which makes the bug automatically invalid.
--- snip --- $ WINEDEBUG=+msgbox wine ./ZBrush_4R6_Installer_WIN.exe ... trace:msgbox:MSGBOX_OnInit L"We have detected that your operating system falls outside ZBrush's current system requirements. Please upgrade your operating system before installing ZBrush 4R6.\n\nThe installer will now quit." --- snip ---
(Vista+ required)
Since you provided so little information this is the kind of answer you can expect in best case.

--- Comment #2 from yuri@tsoft.com yuri@tsoft.com --- There is NEEDINFO status in bugzilla for the request for more info.
ZBrush 4R6, wine-1.7.35 installed from FreeBSD port, ran with some special WINEPREFIX. Installer fails to install.
I don't see how is this bug report invalid.

No. This status is not available in Wine Bugzilla by design.
All required fields are already present in the initial bug report form but you didn't bother to properly read/select/fill them out.
There is information at top of the bug report form ("When reporting a bug...") which specifically aims to help filling out the report. Don't tell me you didn't saw that ...
To get reasonable answers *you* have to provide basic information *beforehand* and not the other way around.
--- quote --- ran with some special WINEPREFIX. --- quote ---
Do you really think your bug report can be taken seriously with this kind of information? Magic glass ball anyone?
I could guess what "special" likely means (it would be also an explanation for the unrelated SYSTEM_PROCESSOR_PERFORMANCE_INFORMATION fixme) ... but to be upfront: the resolution would be the same -> invalid.

--- Comment #4 from yuri@tsoft.com yuri@tsoft.com --- Reading your response, one can find sarcasm, bitterness, attitude, wild assumptions, anything but useful information, let alone it is devoid of friendliness.
It helps to remember/realize that not everybody in the world has exact same knowledge, background and state of mind as you have. And such quick assumptions and conclusions about strangers prove wrong more often than not.
It also helps to remember that trite saying that there are no stupid questions.
