Summary: Teamspeak client hangs on server connection Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: Other URL: http://www.goteamspeak.com/?page=downloads OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: richedit AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: kj.allcock@virgin.net
Created an attachment (id=11701) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=11701) Teamspeak error trace
Teamspeak hangs when connecting to teamspeak test server.
Everything seems to work apart from actually testing to a server. If the server connect string is incorrect I get the audio stating "server error" so audio etc is working. However, as soon as I connect to a valid server it locks up.
Looking at the trace, there are a number of problems but it manages to carry on until many of these, at which point it halts: fixme:richedit:RichEditWndProc_common EM_SETCHARFORMAT: word selection not supported

--- Comment #1 from Juan Lang juan_lang@yahoo.com 2008-03-27 17:20:16 --- The program "hangs" because it crashes:
wine: Unhandled page fault on execute access to 0x00000000 at address (nil) (thread 000f), starting debugger...
and..
=>1 0x00000000 (0x7ec20940) 2 0x00465298 in sfhlp02.sys (+0x5298) (0x7ec209c8)
This is the much-maligned starforce driver.

--- Comment #6 from Falko Ziegler ziegler.falko@web.de 2008-04-19 08:42:33 --- Confirming to i have the same Problem! TeamSpeak under Linux works not fine under wine and with the native Support too!
I have tried to get it work with oss but i need 2 Soundcards or a difficult configuration that not works! The other way is to launch TS2 with also-oss SoundServer (f.O. aoss ..../TeamSpeak) but than the Sound lags extremely, not really nice!
So........i have looked to get it work under wine and it hangs when i try to connect to a Server, really funny, only the Menu will hang up Sound is fine and i can talk to others but can't see the Channel Listings and other!

--- Comment #7 from Keith kj.allcock@virgin.net 2008-04-21 11:51:16 --- I thought I was going mad for a while.
I flushed my .wine directory and reinstalled with just Teamspeak2 and still have the same hang. After the install I checked if the starforce file was there and it isn't.

--- Comment #8 from Saulius K. saulius2@gmail.com 2008-08-31 06:19:14 --- So if any of you are testing client with clean .wine dir, then you should be observing different output. Attach it.
Then it would be interesting to see backtraces of all Wine threads at the moment. When client hangs, could you please run another terminal with a command in it: wine winedbg. After this execute some commands in the prompt of Wine debugger:
info proc info thre bt all q
Then attach output of the operation here too.

I've been using Teamspeak just fine since months. Either this has been fixed ages ago, or I missed something.
