0. make sure "WenQuanYi Micro Hei" is installed. wqy-microhei.ttc

1. setting Chinese font replacements.

2. Download PDFCreator from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

3. open the installer with wine:
$ wine PDFCreator-1_2_1_setup.exe

4.
 - select Simplified Chinese (中文简体) 
 - click OK (确定)
 - click next (下一步)
 - select "I agree" (我接受协议)
 - click next (下一步)

All the window before display Chinese correctly, only this one (安装向导 -
pdfcreator) doesn't display Chinese as expect. Please see screenshot for
details.

The +font trace is two large, more than 4MB even gzipped. Will attach first
5000 line and last 5000 line (which contain the problematic window)

Yeah, this bug is still present in wine-1.4-rc3, but the last (uncommitted)
patch magically fix it.

Hello, updates:

Unfortunately, this bug appear for me again:

If I remember correctly, I've do below things today:

1. in order to test wine font for Traditional Chinese, I installed the
Traditional Chinese Language Support via Ubuntu Language Support GUI
2. edited /usr/local/share/wine/wine.inf, added WenQuanYi Micro Hei as a
replacement for PMingLiU
3. tested wine notepad with LANG=zh_TW.utf8
4. stashed the font-rebuild patch, then applied the font-rebuild-try2 patch
5. retested this bug

The first time I recognized this bug coming back is when I doing the step 5.

After that I tried to remove Traditional Chinese support, tried to stash the
font-rebuild-try2 patch and applied the font-rebuild patch again, tried to
remove PMingLiU replacement, but I can't get this bug away anymore...

If I have time I'll test on a clean install Ubuntu.

Is there any tips to figure out what's wrong in this case?

Hello, retested with a fresh installed Ubuntu 11.10, Language is set to
Simplified Chinese, the problem still present here.

Will attach two log fils:
font-trace-without-fontlink-overrided-last-window.log
font-trace-with-fontlink-overrided-last-window.log

For the first log, test steps are exactly the same with Comment 0;
For the second log, a registry file is imported to override systemlink.

Hi Aric,

Do you have /usr/share/wine/fonts/sserife.fon in your wine installation?

In the first I found this bug could not be reproduced with the wine rpm from
fedora 16, but it can be reproduced if I build wine from source on F16.

After some investigation I found there is no /usr/share/wine/fonts directory in
the fedora wine package.

If I copy /usr/share/fonts/wine-ms-sans-serif-fonts/sserife.fon to
/usr/share/wine/fonts , then I can reproduce this bug even with fedora wine
package.

If I remove /usr/share/fonts/sserife.fon ( or
/usr/local/share/fonts/sserife.fon ), then this bug goes away.

Do we have enough information to fix this bug now?

Similar situations happen in Wine QQ2012, some parts of UI display Chinese
correctly but some parts of it display Chinese as empty boxes, after delete
/usr/share/local/fonts/tahoma.ttf, all parts of UI display Chinese correctly.

Also Bug 29853 seems to related to this one.

Aric, could you reproduce this bug on any Linux distribution?
If you can't reproduce could you tell me your environment and let me have a
try?
