Summary: Gom Player gets stuck after a while when streaming Product: Wine Version: 1.3.6 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: quartz AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: florian@fkoeberle.de
When I use the GOM Player to watch a stream from GomTV it gets often stuck after some time in an infinite sound loop or the visual output fails. It sometimes helps to instantly pause the player after startup and to wait a few seconds: It plays then fine for about 2-20 seconds before it gets stuck. The amounth of time you can watch depends on how long and often you pause and on luck. Stopping and restarting the stream helps.
This bug report is about wine 1.3.6. When using wine 1.3.7 additional issues will occur.

I seem to be getting an infinite loop before playback even starts, does this fix that issue?

--- Comment #2 from Florian florian@fkoeberle.de 2010-11-13 08:24:58 CST --- Wow, that's a fast patch. Unfortunately the streamed event is over so that I can't test it right now. Next week I might be able to test the patch on another stream.

--- Comment #3 from Florian florian@fkoeberle.de 2010-11-13 16:42:01 CST --- I found a way to simulate a stream locally. If the server is sending at reduced data rate this bug occur with wine 1.3.6. If the server is sending data at full speed then everything works fine in 1.3.6.
With wine 1.3.7 + patch however, the playback stops instantly after start like described in bug 25148. That happens even if the server can deliver sufficient speed.

--- Comment #6 from Florian florian@fkoeberle.de 2010-11-28 09:04:32 CST --- I checked how the Gom Player behaves under Windows when the stream isn't fast enough. It doesn't start playback immedatly but shows a black screen for a about 3 seconds. Then it displays the first frame for another second and afterwards it starts blackback.
It displays no progress information when the stream sends no length information: e.g. duration and position is 0. When the server sends length information and supports byte range requests then the player detects after the initial delay that it's current playback position is not at 0 and seeking is possible.
Opening a specfic _saved_ stream file doesn't work properly with the current GOM Player. It doesn't display an image and plays back sound for only about a minute. Pressing stop and play again, or seeking makes it playback the file without issues.

--- Comment #7 from Florian florian@fkoeberle.de 2010-11-28 09:13:26 CST --- One side note: I wasn't able to start the stream playback under Windows 7 using a gom command url like: "gomcmd:///title%20GOMtvnet%20http://server/file"
I had to use the menu to open the stream as url or had to pass the stream http url directly as argument. Maybe I am escaping something wrongly.

Is this still an issue in wine version 1.6-rc3 or higher or is this to be closed as abandoned ?
