Bug #: 31758 Summary: Kerbal Space program 1.7 Product: Wine Version: 1.5.5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: NolanSyKinsley@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 41769 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=41769 console log/backtrace from cockpit crash on click
Kerbal space program has 2 crashes.
I do not know if I should submit 2 bug reports, for now I will keep it at 1 unless told otherwise.
The first is when switching from one of hangars to the runway/launchpad.
The second is when in the cockpit view as soon as you click to look around it crashes.
Both pop up a window wit the error "GetThreadContext failed"
You will note that the directories in the logs say playonlinux, I usually use playonlinux to run the game, but I used regular wine to test and retrieve these logs.

--- Comment #2 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-09-21 12:38:32 CDT --- Hi, PlayOnLinux is not supported here. Update to the latest development version of wine (currently 1.5.13) and try again, if the problem persists attach a new log following the instructions from http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log

--- Comment #3 from Paco NolanSyKinsley@gmail.com 2012-09-21 12:59:14 CDT --- As I said, I ran and got the errors from wine 1.5.5, the files are just in my playonlinux directory.
I would love to upgrade to 1.5.13 but I can't. Right now it is only in the ubuntu precise repo. When I try and install it it gives a bunch of errors, and unsatisfiable dependencies. I am running crunchbang 11, which is based on debian testing. All links for debian point to 1.5.5.
I tried compiling wine from source, that was a no go. Gave rather cryptic errors that I could not find much info on. So for the time being 1.5.5 is the best that I can do.

--- Comment #4 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-09-21 13:23:13 CDT --- Are you able to reproduce the issue with the demo from http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/download.php ?

--- Comment #5 from Paco NolanSyKinsley@gmail.com 2012-09-21 13:25:45 CDT --- The demo is version 1.3 of kerbal space program. All versions after 1.3 are the paid full version.
I did not have issues with the demo once I got an Nvidia card.

--- Comment #6 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-09-22 14:12:45 CDT --- That first problem looks kinda like bug 29762 judging by the libXi involvement.

--- Comment #7 from Paco NolanSyKinsley@gmail.com 2012-09-22 15:50:11 CDT --- I have fixed the cockpit crash issue. The fix can be found on the main page for the KSP 1.7 appdb entry I commented the fix there.
Now to work on the main crash when switching to/from hangars

--- Comment #8 from Paco NolanSyKinsley@gmail.com 2012-09-22 16:58:53 CDT --- Ok, running on wine 1.4 RC4 KSP does not crash, so I need to get wine to compile and do some regression testing.

Ok, running on wine 1.4 RC4 KSP does not crash, so I need to get wine to compile and do some regression testing.
Well I was wrong, it still crashed, just not as often. But I managed to narrow down the problem and fix it. I did not have enough memory and KSP has issues retrieving data from swap in a timely manner. I upgraded my memory and now no more crashes.

--- Comment #10 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-09-22 22:29:17 CDT --- If the problem was your system didn't meet minimum system specs, then the bug is invalid, not fixed.

--- Comment #11 from Paco NolanSyKinsley@gmail.com 2012-09-22 22:33:29 CDT --- One half of it was my system, the main crash. I marked it as fixed due to the cockpit bug and the workaround I did to fix it. Then again this is a problem with the 64 bit having and outdated 32-Bit libXi form ia32libs.
