In the multiplayer mode of the game Chrome, Wine frequently freezes either when the game loading a new map or when disconnecting from the server. Both the Steam version of the game and the demo shows the same issue.
How to reproduce the problem in the demo:
Install the demo, start it by ChromeNet.exe. Select 'Multiplayer' from the menu, then 'Join net game'. The demo contains only 5 maps, so there is a slight chance you can connect to one of the servers. The maps in the demo are: Loomia2, Narrow, Skirmish, Soilent, and Trench3. After successfully connecting you can play a bit (if you like it), then choose Quit game...the game gets unresponsive and hangs.
I attached a console log, unfortunately it doesn't show any relevant information.
These are the last lines of messages from the game itself (crash.log): Creating client - port:27015 [CSocket::Bind]: <bind> error: WSAEACCES [CClient::CClient]: UDP socket bind failed [JAVA_CreateClient]: client crash

I attach a +sync,+winsock log when running the demo in 1.2-rc7 (my IP address is intentionally xx-ed out in the log). The freezing always occurs when disconnecting from the server.
The last lines of the log show:
trace:winsock:WS_bind socket 0398, ptr 0x14958098 { family AF_INET, address 77.xxx.xxx.xxx, port 93 }, length 16 warn:winsock:WS_bind failure - errno = 13 warn:winsock:wsaErrno errno 13, (Permission denied).
Am I right the game tries to bind to a low port (93) which is not allowed to a normal user on Linux? Fyi, the freezing doesn't happen when running the game as root (not recommended).
Is there any other solution to this other than running Wine as root?

--- Comment #2 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-07-23 13:16:02 CDT --- Long time I haven't checked this bug: in Wine-1.3.25 the game no longer freezes on map change/disconnecting from the server. I can reproduce the problem in 1.3.18 but not in 1..3.19 (or newer).
