Bug #: 31049 Summary: Team Product: Wine Version: 1.5.5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3dx9 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: joehillen@gmail.com CC: wine-bugs@winehq.org Classification: Unclassified
When launching Team Fortress 2. The screen locks up, sounds keeps playing, and the terminal fills with the following log message:
fixme:d3d9:IDirect3DDevice9ExImpl_PresentEx iface 0x162a90, src_rect (nil), dst_rect (nil), dst_window_override (nil), dirty_region (nil), flags 0 stub!
It worked perfectly yesterday, but there was a TF2 update today, which may be the source of the problem.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 This is my graphics card: NVIDIA Corporation G92 [GeForce 8800 GT] (rev a2)

This has also been reported on the forum, http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=16010, with a suggested workaround to start the game with -dxlevel 81.

With -dxlevel 81 the game is pretty playable but I would rate it bronze. It is laggy (before the update it wasn't) and the water texture is horrible (seems like a missing texture of the source engine) as seen in my attachment. Plus, the glasses to take you to pyroland don't seem to work (the map is the same, only medkits and ammo crates change)

--- Comment #5 from Chiitoo escomk3@hotmail.com 2012-07-07 12:54:29 CDT --- Just thought I'd add that I experienced very much this same thing with Counter-Strike: Source.
The launch option '-nod3d9ex' will enable the game to 'show up'. Else, there is simply a black-screen, though it's still fully functional (can use the menu to exit etc., hearing the sound and all). Didn't try to get into a game, however heh.
This would be literally 'spammed' in terminal:
fixme:d3d9:d3d9_device_PresentEx iface 0x161c08, src_rect (nil), dst_rect (nil), dst_window_override (nil), dirty_region (nil), flags 0 stub!
I quickly tested 1.5.8, which it seems to work again with? I was distracted testing other things so I'm not exactly sure right now. I am stuck with 1.5.6 due to having an issue with Final Fantasy XI since 1.5.7, and still present in 1.5.8. Unsure at this time if it's just me, and haven't yet debugged it at all...
Either way, I didn't see anyone mention this happening with CS:S, so there you have it!
Blubb.
