I am trying to install Lexware financial office pro[1], Version "2008 Juli" on Ubuntu 8.04.1 with wine 1.1.5 from APT-repo.
For starting the installer various libraries need to be installed. I did that using winetricks from 2008-08-25: winetricks msxml3 jet40 mdac28 winxp
The installation fails with a message-box saying "Systemprüfung konnte nicht erfolgreich abgeschlossen werden" ("The system-check could not be completed sucessfully. Aborting installation") [2].
Unfortunately there is now demo-version available for download (as far as I know) but you can order a 4-week-trial on DVD [3].
I append the output of wine using (WINEDEBUG=+relay,+msgbox) and the following debug parameters in user.reg:

I extracted a 1000-line section around the msgbox using tail and head. Hope the log is helpful.

I am not sure whether this is related to the same problem, but I append another output of wine from a previous installation-attempt. Wine seems to crash after I click 'OK' in the error-box and the installer quits.

Also , does the file C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Lexware\Setup Historie\lxsetup\setup_08_09_21_00_27_04.log contain any interesting info? Maybe it reveals a bit more as to why it fails

It seems like the installer is checking for some windows-processes:

and then fails:

maybe it tries to locate regsvr32.exe, but first checks that registry-key. Could you create the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\ using regedit, and see if it changes anything?

Using "winetricks fakeie6" it indeed works! You are my hero! ;)
So.. system-check now completes sucessfully and the actual installation starts but fails when trying to install .Net 2.0
Will upload the log in a moment.. and try to install .net 2.0 using winetricks after that.

Then a list of the files follows and after each file "Modul nicht gefunden" ("Module not found").

Maybe it needs mfc42.dll? Anyway, Fabian, could you please open new bugreport(s) for further issues you run into. This bugreport is basically for the missing registry-key "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
I'll send a patch to wine-patches to solve this bug

Fabian, the other bug is most likely an msi-bug. For now i guess you have to wait until that one is fixed, or you could try install on windows, and copy the missing files over to wine, and register them , but that's really a pain of course
