Summary: Star Wars Galaxies regression: USB joystick crashes application Product: Wine Version: 1.1.1 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: toni.pongratz@gmx.de
Created an attachment (id=14987) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14987) complete output of wine
When launching the game with a USB joystick plugged in and activated in the games options, it will crash immediately upon execution.
Apparently a common bug, this used to work before. See attachment for complete output.

--- Comment #2 from toni.pongratz@gmx.de 2008-07-22 16:03:55 --- After further testing, it seems to be not a regression caused directly, or at least not wholly, by wine. I've tested it again with 1.0rc1 (which I know has worked, using opensuse10.3), 1.0rc3 and todays (20080722) snapshot, it crashes in all versions used.
Since I am not familiar with bug testing in wine, I am unsure of where to continue looking. If anyone could point me in a direction (maybe by looking through wines output), I'd be glad to dig up more if needed. Once again, this seems to be a familiar problem when using SWG, working for some, crashing for others.

Did you set your win version to vista or something? Can't be regression. This never worked before.

No, of course not. Why ever would I do that? It's set to XP. I did notice those D3D10 calls, but figured they wouldn't have much to do with that, since execution continues after that and only aborts later on if there is a USB joystick activated. So this doesn't look like it's part of the actual problem.

--- Comment #6 from Toni Pongratz toni.pongratz@gmx.de 2008-07-28 00:45:13 --- Yes, that is quite obvious. However, this doesn't quite explain why it works under some (unknown) circumstances and under others does not. Because I think it's fairly certain that this is caused not completely by wine itself (same versions showing different behavior among different distributions/distribution-releases), and I thought there might be clues in the output as to what those outside components could be. If not, and if that can be fixed without additional information, that would be fine. I just wanted to provide more information, but do not know how to do so, or rather where to look.

--- Comment #7 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-07-28 11:57:23 --- Ok one problem per bug. That property is now "implemented" but not really used by Wine. Closing fixed (in current GIT). Please try it with the latest source (GIT). Or wait for wine-1.1.3.
If the game still doesn't work or crashes - please open a new bug. Can't dump everything into one bug.
