--- Comment #1 from Erich Hoover erich.e.hoover@gmail.com --- What do you mean by "drops"? Do you mean the game crashes, locks up, drops audio? If it's that the game crashes randomly then that's probably Bug #30972.

--- Comment #2 from Kurt kurtjaeke@gmx.de --- The backtrace looks suspiciously familiar. I'll attach mine, from a run with winedbg. Note that the failing access to 0x129 is the same for both crashes.
The game crashes at random in-game locations: walk to a place and the game crashes. Load a save and walk there again, the game crashes again.
Avoiding this bug is quite difficult, since you never know where it bites. It is probably a new issue; sadly there aren't any backtraces for bug #30972 so there's no way to know for sure.
My platform is MacOSX, with Wine 1.7.22.

I ran the command
winedbg FalloutNV.exe
and typed
cont
at the debugger prompt. When the game crashed, I typed
bt all (CTRL-D)

Have you tried disabling "gameoverlayrenderer" in winecfg? This DLL has been plaguing a lot of Steam games lately.

No, but I tried wine-1.7.23, released today. This issue is fixed in 68339456a8f7543ae46ac504c2ce7f4f0221a789, which is included in wine-1.7.23.
