Bug #: 29650 Summary: MP3Gain falters and crashes Product: Wine Version: 1.3.37 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: briandoe1@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 38431 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38431 Terminal output of MP3Gain execution
Program Version: MP3Gain 1.2.5 From: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/index.php Wine Version 1.3.37
MP3Gain performs very badly and eventually crashes with a "Program needs to close" error while analyzing or modifying MP3 gain information. This bug can be easily replicated by loading MP3Gain, adding a small folder of MP3 files to its list, then performing Track or Album Analysis. Downgrading Wine to 1.3.30 allows MP3Gain to work properly. Last known Wine version on which MP3Gain is known to work is 1.3.32.

--- Comment #3 from Brian Doe briandoe1@gmail.com 2012-01-19 00:02:01 CST --- Okay, I got to the part about compiling Wine, and got confused. I'm running OpenSuse 12.1 64-bit. MP3Gain is a 32-bit application. Do I only compile 32-bit Wine? Or will my system complain about mismatched Wine versions and I'll need to compile both 32- and 64-bit versions?
Everything about bisecting and all that, I think I can figure out. Does it matter that there's a wide gap between current version (1.3.37) and last known working version (1.3.32)?

Do I only compile 32-bit Wine?
Yes.
Does it matter that there's a wide gap between current version (1.3.37) and last known working version (1.3.32)?
No, binary search used by git-bisect will close that gap in few steps.

I mean, if it still *does* happen.

--- Comment #8 from Michael Stefaniuc mstefani@redhat.com 2013-05-02 18:30:43 CDT --- The regression happened between 1.3.31 and 1.3.32. Hard to bisect as there are two behaviors: either the crash but most often it would just spin burning CPU and never finishing. The regression is already fixed in 1.4.
