Bug #: 31839 Summary: Mouse jumps to the upper left corner of the screen Product: Wine Version: 1.5.14 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: sworddragon2@aol.com Classification: Unclassified
On some games (I noticed this only on Blizzard games) the mouse position is set on starting/exiting the game to the upper left corner of the screen. Just a few examples:
- On Diablo 3 this works on starting and exiting the game (independent if -opengl is used or not).
- On Warcraft 3 (RoC and TFT) this works only on starting the game and if -opengl is used.

Operating system: Ubuntu 12.10 dev (64 bit) with the Linux kernel 3.5 Window manager: Openbox ...
Could you please try with another window manager? I suspect this issue is something in Openbox (as I do not see it in Unity).

That's very odd, I launched D3 exactly how you specified and my mouse is still exactly where it was when I started the application. Do you have the games set to use a different resolution from your normal desktop?

--- Comment #6 from sworddragon2@aol.com 2012-10-01 15:58:44 CDT --- Both games are running in fullscreen mode with 1680x1050 (like my desktop). I have tested this now with Windows XP and Windows 7 but there is no difference. After this I have enabled the virtual desktop and the bug doesn't appear anymore. Are you maybe using a virtual desktop? If yes try to reproduce the bug without it.

No, I'm using the game in traditional full-screen mode. I am using an older Ubuntu release, however, so it may be related to that.

--- Comment #10 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

Yes, this issue does still exist in Wine 1.7.38. In the attachments is the terminal output for this issue tested with Warcraft 3 - The Frozen Throne. Also I'm noticing that this issue appears too if I'm minimizing Guild Wars.

--- Comment #12 from sworddragon2@aol.com --- I'm noticing that this issue also appears if Guild Wars 2 gets minimized.
