https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14601
--- Comment #9 from donanykey@gmail.com --- Hi Guys,
I wrote dev@rarlab and asked to shed some light on an approach used with animation.
Eugene Roshal replied: "This is one of oldest parts of WinRAR code, not really modified for 10+ years."
And proposed to "send you a part of source from this dialog responsible for books movement."
Attaching it here per "Yes, you can share this code, attach it to the bug and quote my messages."
I can confirm pixel artifacts on the top animation (where WinRar written), but cannot strictly confirm slow animation - to me it looks quite similar, though it could be VM's limitations I used to run Windows8 within, as the dialog is quite CPU consuming

--- Comment #11 from David Girón duhowpi@gmail.com --- Even using Windows 10 (with virt-manager), doing the book animation loads an entire CPU core.
Using wine 3.13, I don't see the animation slow.

--- Comment #12 from donanykey@gmail.com --- Hi Guys,
Although the high cpu usage has been seen on Windows as well, with recent version of WinRar @ Wine 3.17 its all OK everywhere (see screenshots attached)
And I don't see any pixel artifacts (at least my eye doesn't catch any) even though there is spam of
0034:fixme:wincodecs:BitmapScaler_Initialize unsupported mode 3
I believe this bug could be resolved.

Summarizing: No change between old Wine 1.5.x and recent Wine 3.17 version on modern distros/hardware. The claimed 100% load (one core) for egg2 doesn't seem questionable to me. There have been multiple reports that the cpu load is similar compared to native Windows 8/10. Same with the animation speed - no difference to native. I'm inclined to resolve here, although nothing was fixed in Wine.
