Doesn't work for me either, with nvidia 8800 100.14.19, I tried this demo a week or so ago and also attempted a regression test since I saw bug 7868, but even reverting to just after the commit that apparently fixes the issue, the problem still exists.

Though that won't say much as Nvidia might have some hack in their driver. If it works try to rename the dawn executable to something else ;)

Two gotchas:
I had some fails-to-start due to an old /usr/lib/wine/glut32.dll.so relic lying around.
And the demo must be run from the bin/ directory, doesn't start and gives the "page fault on read access to 0x00000044 at address 0x406609" if you try to run it from another directory with full path, for example.

Same behavior here. I always ran it from the bin/ directory though.

--- Comment #16 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2008-08-18 13:11:23 --- If I did not run it from the bin directory it crashes earlier with this : trace:wgl:X11DRV_wglGetProcAddress ('wglFlush'): (0x6195a700) - WineGL wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000044 at address 0x406609 (thread 0009), starting debugger...
If it is started from the bin directory the splash screen pops up which isn't the thing in the other case.

I understand that an old demo that only runs on a subset of graphics hardware configurations is probably a low priority item, but one can still hope that keeping this report alive might yield a result for those of us who like to reminisce over one of the greatest little technology demos ever created :)
