--- Comment #6 from Graynder sergey@khrustalev.us 2010-06-24 03:14:58 --- I have got the same problem while playing Warcraft III. The window became frozen after minimizing it. And there are unable to do something except to terminate the game.

--- Comment #7 from Graynder sergey@khrustalev.us 2010-06-24 14:04:29 --- This bug appears only using KDE 4.4.4 and kwin as default window manager. I tested it with openbox and openbox-kde-session and there everything works fine. Probably it is common problem of kwin and wine.

--- Comment #11 from Roman m01brv@mail.ru 2010-09-07 07:47:10 CDT --- Warcraft III is definitely affected by this bug. In the wine-1.2 + KDE-4.4.2 it is in fact impossible to reanimate its window after alt+tab switch or minimize - it just hangs. With the reverse patch from here applied, the Warcraft III window can be restored always or almost always with kwin effects disabled, though it seems still unrestorable with kwin enabled. However, even when the window is restored, the desktop panels usually overlap the game picture. I can further correct it by calling the window menu (alt+F3) and forcing the window to become fullscreen (regardless it is in the fullscreen mode already).

--- Comment #14 from Robert robert@unrobbar.de 2010-12-10 18:23:47 CST --- As a workaround it worked for me to build a start-script for WoW like this:
wine explorer /desktop=<VIRTUAL_DESKTOP_NAME>,<X_RESOLUTION>x<Y_RESOLUTION> PATH_TO_PROGRAM
for example: wine explorer /desktop=wow,1280x1024 /home/xyz/.wine/drive_c/Programme/World\ of\ Warcraft/Wow.exe

wine explorer /desktop=<VIRTUAL_DESKTOP_NAME>,<X_RESOLUTION>x<Y_RESOLUTION>
emulating virtual desktop can be set for .exe in winecfg as well, but , in my opinion, fullscreen visual is more appealing
-------------- checked with KDE 4.5.4 , WOW 3.3.5a (cannot upgrade yet to 4.0.x) and wine 1.3.9 still cannot restore WoW window after minimizing

Playing with window options did not helped for WoW 3.3.5a / Wine 1.3.12 + git 2011-01-26 (wine-1.3.12-82-g72e089d)
So i'm still using reverse patch to play.
When Gentoo KDE maintainers will push KDE 4.6.0 into ~ tree, i'll recheck with KDE 4.6.0

Workaround #23 worked fine with WoW 3.3.5a / Wine 1.3.12 and kde 4.5.95-0ubuntu1~maverick~ppa1. I also had to force "size" to have kdetaskbar below window.

You can proudly close and report this bug as 'fixed' as you always do. I'd better say - 'timed out'.
