--- Comment #4 from Michael Scholz michael-shz@web.de 2008-09-13 02:42:16 --- I also experienced the same problem with Drakensang 1.0.1. I do not see any sound connected error message on the console.
I installed the workaround for the missing support of the "nebula 2" engine, as described within on the Drakensang AppDB site. ( see the comment of Malte Cornils, Tuesday August 5th 2008, 17:48). I assume that the stub implementation is responsible for this side effect.

--- Comment #5 from cordo cordo@mci.edu 2008-09-15 03:26:20 --- hi!
there is a work around for the problem.
you need some dll's http://rapidshare.de/files/40166186/Drakensang_W2k.7z.html
copy them to the main directory of drakensang.exe and add this dll's wir regserv32
and in winecfg use oss - alsa does not work for me.

--- Comment #7 from Michael Scholz michael-shz@web.de 2008-09-17 14:26:24 --- I already added the audio dlls as recommended above to my version (1.1.4 with a patched pixel format recognition). Without the dlls the application crashes with the following message: "Audio::Server::Open(): failed to open Nebula2 nAudioServer3 sound server!"
I can start the application with the "-novideo" flag, but have no sound: neither with alsa, nor with oss. Except from that (and the white trees) the application runs quiet well. I also played with several other settings as presented by winecfg like hardware emulation, sample rate, etc.
I tried the installation of DirectX via winetricks. After that I was able to see the intro video with sound. Nonetheless the application itself is still mute.
Other applications seem to work fine.

I had the same problem. Set in System->Preferences-> sound change it to alsa all. install alsaoss. Set in winecfg sound to OSS. Finally change your activator to the game like:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/your_username/.wine" aoss wine "C:\Drakensang\drakensang.exe" -fullscreen -novideo.
Hope this help.

so I'll assume it's fixed.
