intro movie plays, menus work, but
Upon starting the first level, there are no visuals, just a black screen, the game appears to play but nothing but black is on screen.
If you hit ESC, a status bar is drawn, or if you scroll the mouse a small movement speed graphic is drawn, but nothing else. Attaching +d3d log.

The game complains about "more than one backbuffer" being requested by the app. I get that message even if I set "TriBuffer" to 0 in the .cfg file of the game. I tried playing a different game before, which also tried to set up more than one back buffer, which got me similar results (a black screen, without any "overlay graphics" or whatever, though)

Attached is a +d3dxof log, because using native d3dxof.dll let the game start fine. The log is compressed with 7zip and uncompressed about 105MB.

In wine 1.1.21 I can get to the first level fine but I have the same problem as the original reported bug. Attached my small log above.

There is only graphics glitch remaining due to missing vertex blending but it's another problem.
