To reproduce: $ rm -rf ~/.wine $ winecfg
Click on 'Drives' tab. Click 'Autodetect'
Winecfg then fails to find drive_c.
This is a follow up from bug 15842, which only had this error in Windows 98 mode.

This is the output of WINEDEBUG=+file,+mountmgr winecfg on ubuntu 8.10 intrepid.
The wineprefix directory was purged before that.

The WINEDEBUG=+process winecfg output on ubuntu 8.10. Again the wineprefix directory has been purged before.
winedevice.exe is not running while winecfg runs.

Must be a problem with your config..!?
