Summary: foobar2000 regressions Product: Wine Version: 1.1.24 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: legato777@gmail.com CC: damjan.jov@gmail.com
this bug is a foobar2000 (latest version) regression. when i upgraded from 1.1.24 from 1.1.23 foobar2000 no longer worked (an apparant display issue where everything inside the window was messed up: displays a copy of the windows below it), you'll notice the bug right after launching the program
this was my first attempt at regression testing and i could have done it wrong! (the last several bisects were "git bisect bad" which formed a suspicious pattern)
in other words, this might be the wrong section of code, but i am sure this is a regression that occured with the latest update
:~/wine-git$ git bisect bad 36685b076188d1e38b30bf9608778dda9fcd4e21 is first bad commit commit 36685b076188d1e38b30bf9608778dda9fcd4e21 Author: Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com Date: Sun Jun 14 12:25:48 2009 +0200

--- Comment #2 from Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com 2009-06-24 14:32:36 --- I can't reproduce this on either of my computers, with Wine 1.1.24 and the version of foobar you specified. It starts up properly, and draws everything just fine.
It must be caused some non-default setting in Wine or foobar, an old WINEPREFIX, a native DLL, or some other quirk.
I highly doubt it's my patch, but whatever it is, the only one that can regression test it properly is someone who is experiencing the problem, so please run another regression test.

--- Comment #3 from Jose Martinez legato777@gmail.com 2009-06-24 15:14:24 --- yea, as i stated in my original post this is my first time testing a regression, so i prob got it wrong. i tried to follow the wiki guide but i was led to "git bisect bad" about 5x in a row which seemed suspicious. i'm not sure where i'm going wrong in the regression testing unfortunately. i rarely touch the command line so i wont be surprise if i cant pinpoint the regression due to my noob-ish-ness. i'm not a programmer type, computers are merely one of my many light-hobbies.

--- Comment #4 from Jose Martinez legato777@gmail.com 2009-06-26 19:09:53 --- hi again, i tried to do the regression testing again and i couldnt figure out how to do it properly, i'm just not savvy enough. here is a screenshot of foobar2000 in 1.1.24, you can see what the issue is

--- Comment #5 from Jose Martinez legato777@gmail.com 2009-06-30 16:09:27 --- alright, apparantly it is NOT the new version of wine causing this issue. the issue arises after adjusting preferences.
i uninstalled wine, leaving the preferences folder intact, reinstalled bug was present.
i uninstalled again, this time deleting preferences, reinstalled and bug is fixed. it may have something to do with using flac.exe encoder in conjunction with foobar2000 that triggers the bug

--- Comment #6 from Sven septim.dt@gmail.com 2009-11-05 14:15:52 --- Adding some terminal output would help if you're able to reproduce the bug. If not, then this bug is invalid.
Also, since you say it's not the new version of wine, this is not a regression, so the regression keyword can be removed.

--- Comment #7 from Alex Balut alexandru.balut@gmail.com 2010-04-20 15:37:14 --- Jose, did you delete the preferences who were causing the problem? Or do you know what exactly you changed in the preferences, that caused this problem? If you are interested, please provide more info so we can reproduce the bug; otherwise let's close this bug.
