Bug ID: 42061 Summary: DOOM(2016) has issues with multiple monitors - crashes too Product: Wine-staging Version: 2.0-rc2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: spleefer90@gmail.com CC: erich.e.hoover@wine-staging.com, michael@fds-team.de, sebastian@fds-team.de Distribution: ---
pacman -Q wine-staging-git wine-staging-git atest.release.r0.ge05b5bf8+wine.2.0.rc2.r0.g56040acaa3-1
I have 2 monitors, both 1920x1080, one 144Hz(left,primary) and second one 60Hz(right,secondary).
Upon launching the game, my left monitor turns off and the game is launched on the wrong monitor(right).
After messing around with the monitors(turning them back on and going into game settings), trying to make DOOM run on the other monitor, the game crashes.
Crash error: http://pastebin.com/efU7w1An
I guess the crashing wouldn't be an issue if the game launched on the correct monitor without turning anything off.
I'll attach full output soon.

Couldn't get it to crash this time, but here's the log when it launched on the wrong monitor at least. I played for a while so the relevant lines should be somewhere at the beginning.

--- Comment #2 from Michael Müller michael@fds-team.de --- Could you describe your setup a bit more? Are you using NVIDIA TwinView? Do you run DOOM in OpenGL or Vulkan mode?
I think I had the same issue with games when I used NVIDIA TwinView. If I remember correctly the NVIDIA driver emulates a single CRT in TwinView mode and changing the resolution therefore affects both monitors. If DOOM changes the resolution to 1920x1080, it basically disables your second monitor. I would suggest to arrange the displays using xrandr without TwinView. This should fix those quirks.

I've never heard of Nvidia TwinView and I can't find it in nvidia-settings either.
I've had problems with a lot of games launching on the wrong monitor, even outside of WINE. some work fine, some don't, but DOOM on WINE just straight out takes the secondary screen with it.(as in turns it off)

--- Comment #5 from roman@hargrave.info roman@hargrave.info --- Since TwinView is not terminology applicable to the Linux driver, are you using Xaphod heads (Xinerama) (localhost:D.X) or Single Display, Multiple Output (localhost:1.X)?

I have (what seems to be) the same issue with Wine 2.0-staging on an extremely old game called Moorhuhn: winter edition.
Launches on the wrong monitor, sometimes work sometimes doesn't, and it kills the correct one meanwhile if it launches, setting my default display to a different one.
I'll file a separate bug if you think those issues are different.
