There's a crash in setup.exe (shdocvw is in the backtrace) when running with
native msxml3, but the installer catches the crash.

The one you're currently struggling with (comment #3, with native msxml3

Apply my patch from http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=11740 to get the
installer further.

If you have problems resolving follow up bugs/crashes, call me again - but

OK, so this is no longer an msmxl3 bug, changing component.
(Maybe someone should open a new bug report for the xpath errors,
if it makes the app misbehave, but that can wait until the crash is fixed.)

Does 'winetricks ie6' work around the crash?

ie6-winetricks

With ie6 it doesn't crash, but it there are ie scripting errors (I can include
a screenshot) which I ignore. Then it just sits there trying to register some
object (see log). At least the installer remains responsive and you can close
it down cleanly.

Installing ie7 and msxml3 through winetricks makes the installer run up to the
start of the copy of files. During the installation, a white window appear, but
apparently no problem closing it. Attached the log and here is the screenshot:

Console output Wine 1.3.31

Still present in Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric" 32-Bit. Wine 1.3.31 - All I get is a
blank window as described in comment 18. I have attached my console output and

I fed Google search engine with 'CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 oldapps' and got a
working download with the first hit.

Since Dan decided to turn this one into mshtml bug (comment #14), yes the
second one is also still present but more or less random due to multiple
threads simultaneously loading pages, accessing freed memory.

Hello folks,

msxml3 issue is now tracked by bug 27240 (re-targeted).

Next time please avoid changing the problem domain by applying native recipes,
this is not helpful.

Revisiting this bug after a while and indicating my current situation:

I am using

and I am not getting backtraces with wine 4.1 anymore. Installer hangs at the
splash screen though for which I have filed bug 46791 - also linked the new bug
to the corresponding AppDB entry.
