Using the updated instructions[1] to download wine from the new repository does
not work[2], though the key itself is imported[3].  OS is Linux Mint 18.1.

I had the same issue.

Open update manager --> Software sources --> Additional repositories

Copy paste the new address there.

And it should work.

Make sure you input this string in the GUI when adding the repository, or keep
this structure and you should solve the problem
