--- Comment #5 from Kirs shadowvoice@inbox.lv 2009-01-06 11:25:38 --- For me as simple as that: I open any of sample files (supposed to be free to save even under trial) and as soon as I press save - have that message or app simply closes without any message.
Now under process to kill WINE and re-install it, but I dont expect this to help, cose same problem I had on TWO different mashines. Both under 8.04+ WINE 1.1.10
I'll do respective upgrade and repost results.

I finally understood WHY You can't reproduce the problem. It's becouse of my poor Enlish I assume - sorry for that.
I can't SAVE A TOOLPATH, but still can save a job done (Vectric file). In another words: I can't export g-code, i.e. from toolpath panel try to click icon with floppy on it.
Once again - sorry for present misunderstanding caused by my bad English... it's not my mother toungue.

Yeah, i can see the bug now. It crashes for me too. Probably a bug in comctl32, as using native comctl32 fixes the problem for me.
So, until someone fixes this bug, you can probably work around the bug by doing:
'wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks cc580'
and then run the app

EXCELLENT!
It worked for me as well! (on another mashine) 'cose on my own I can't reinstall wine properly (I assume where some leftowers remain) which causes hell of strange behaviours of software. So in short words - if software enviroment is sound - Your solution WORKS RELL!
THKS once again!

Here is the trace, also enabled +msgbox so you can search the log where the fatal MessageBox occurs.

--- Comment #11 from Mikolaj Zalewski mikolaj.zalewski@gmail.com 2009-02-01 12:42:25 --- Thanks for the log. It's hard to say what caused the crash. It seems it happens in WM_COMMAND handler - the handler creates a dialog and, after the WM_WINDOWSPOSCHANGING returns, crashes on NULL pointer dereference. The dialog contains a listview and a tooltip, so these would be a natural suspect.
Does this program display a dialog under Windows/Wine with native comctl32? Is this a Save As standard dialog or a custom dialog? Could someone attach a screenshot of this dialog?

--- Comment #13 from boort1@gmail.com 2010-04-04 00:21:34 --- Louis, and others who can help,
Sorry to dig this old thread back up. Using instructions provided above Kris and I were each able to get our Vectric CNC products (Vcarve-pro and Aspire, respectively) up and running under Wine about a year ago. Recently Vectric provided an update that installed a newer version of the MS C++ (vcredist_x86.exe) Between changes to wine and updates to the program this problem has resurfaced. Unfortunately having winetricks install the cc580 parts is not fixing it for me.
This is what I have done so far:
1) Install Ubuntu v9.10 (I chose the studio Ubuntu version) 2) Install Wine: Add the WineHQ Software source to your system: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa Be sure to get the latest versions: sudo apt-get update Install Wine package (I used 1.1.41-0ubuntu1): sudo apt-get install wine
3) Grab a copy of the WineTricks script wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks Install a few windows tools with winetricks: sh winetricks allfonts
4) Install Aspire v2.0 from Cd with the following wine command: wine AspireSetup.exe (Take all of the default Options) (Install the C++ files as prompted) (uncheck the "Run Aspire" and "Show Readme" options then click Finish) 5) Start Aspire from the "System bar/Wine/Programs/Aspire..." menu (entered registered Name and License info) (failure can be reproduce in trial version as well as full) You may need to restart the program after entering the License info.
At this point I had a running Aspire system that seems to do everything except save the g-code. I backed up the ~/.wine dir as a checkpoint.
I looked up this thread and tried to run "sh winetricks cc580" which appeared to install with out any problems. After installing the cc580 parts with winetricks, the Aspire program will not start. it fails with the errors:
fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" (6.0.0.0) err:module:import_dll Library vcomp.dll (which is needed by L"Z:\home\robm\.wine\drive_c\Program Files\Aspire V2.0\Exec\Aspire.exe") not found err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\home\robm\.wine\drive_c\Program Files\Aspire V2.0\Exec\Aspire.exe" failed, status c0000135
6) I removed ~/.wine dir and restored the checkpoint.
7) I copied the upgrade files to: ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Aspire V2.0 8) cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Aspire V2.0 9) Install the 1st Patch wine AspireV2015_to_V2503_Upgrade.exe ( take all of the defaults including installing the MS files ) ( Wait for "Patch Successful" message then click Finish ) 10) Run Aspire (from the menu, same as in step 6, no change). 11) Install the 2nd Patch wine AspireV2503_to_V2504_Upgrade.exe ( take all of the defaults including installing the MS files ) ( Wait for "Patch Successful" message then click Finish ) 12) Run Aspire (no change). 13) reran from the commandline cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Aspire\ V2.0/ wine ./Exec/Aspire.exe Same failure, saved Standard Error messages to STD.err.out 14) looked up some debugging info from the wiki and turned on debugging: export WINEDEBUG=+relay wine ./Exec/Aspire.exe Reproduced the failure and saved the stderr to WINEDEBUG.err.out.
I'm not sure how to proceed from here any help would be appreciated. I will attach both files below.

--- Comment #16 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2010-06-07 16:59:12 --- I can't reproduce this problem running VCarve Pro Trial 5.504 and wine-1.2-rc2-197-ge1fd439. It produces output text file (some curves point data in text format I guess).
So retest this please. Preferably to retest with original 4.6 version to be sure it works.
P.S. I found that reverting 5d708246d79e540f40c914f1bac80e70a4d0fee7 will crash it just after pressing floppy button.

--- Comment #17 from Boort boort1@gmail.com 2010-06-08 00:49:16 --- Nikolay,
I nolonger have a copy of the old VcarvePro v4.6 installer. I was able to test with the current version as well as the full version of it's bigger brother program Aspire.
To run my tests I removed my ~/.wine configuration dir, installed wine-1.2-rc2 from the repository, ran "./winetricks corefonts tahoma liberation fontfix" to get the needed fonts, (No other winetricks installs) and installed and tested VCarvePro v5.5 Trial and Aspire v2.015. Both programs installed and were able to save Gcode without error.
I then installed the AspireV2015_to_V2503_Upgrade.exe patch on the full version of Aspire which also updates the MS Visual C++ 2005 SP1 runtime. The Patch installer reported that it completed successfully. I then created Gcode from the same project I created on the earlier version. This appears to be working.
I then installed the AspireV2503_to_V2504_Upgrade.exe. This patch reported that it installed correctly. I was then able to save and run my gcode.
In short all versions of Aspire and VcarvePro that I have access to appear to pass my simple tests!
Thank you, and the rest of the Wine Team! BoorT
