Summary: Anarchy Online crashes when window is dragged out of desktop or when switching workspaces Product: Wine Version: 1.1.36 Platform: x86 URL: http://anarchy-online.com OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jonathan-vola@hotmail.com
Anarchy Online crashes in windowed mode under certain conditions:
Metacity: Crashes when dragged partially off of workspace
Compiz: Crashes when dragged partially off of workspace Crashes when changed workspace Does not crash in 3d cube view (Leads me to believe it is a problem with a render optimizer)
Tested with 1.1.36, 1.1.38, 1.1.40 (PlayOnLinux prefix, wineprefixcreate is the only command I could find to create a prefix, and it is deprecated)

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-03-19 16:26:10 --- Use 'wineboot' to create a prefix.

--- Comment #2 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2010-03-19 21:39:28 --- POL is not supported here. Use vanilla Wine and new wineprefix (not touched by POL). Reopen if the problem still exists. Don't forget complete terminal output with Wine debug symbols installed.

No such problems here. Following actions works for me nicely:
* Dragging off workspace - different cover percentage, different sides
* changing workspace when the game runs
* sending the game window to the different workspaces
Tested under: - Clean wine environment - Anarchy online v18.3.1 - nVidia v195.36.15 - KDE v4.3.4

--- Comment #6 from jonathan-vola@hotmail.com 2010-03-28 07:55:45 --- Which wine version?
I only know one other person who plays it on Linux and he has the same problems.
(Could it be a gnome/KDE issue?)

--- Comment #7 from jonathan-vola@hotmail.com 2010-04-21 15:18:40 --- Still happens with 1.1.43
Ubuntu Lucid, GNOME, Compiz
Metacity/Openbox (WM only) still let me change workspace and bring from workspace to workspace but crash on drag-off-screen.
Could someone provide some bash which will let me debug the app? The launcher calls the client and the output ends with the launcher.

I get this bug too. Attached is the terminal output with the latest Wine when moving a windowed-mode AO off the screen it is on (in this case onto my second monitor).

--- Comment #9 from llie@nano.exofire.net 2011-03-10 18:39:25 CST --- I believe this may be a shortcoming with Anarchy Online itself. AO also crashes immediately when you attempt to drag the AO window from one monitor to the second.
A potential workaround is to use a virtual desktop, and running AO in either windowed or full-screen mode inside the virtual desktop window. This is how I can drag my AO window from my main monitor to my second monitor without AO crashing as soon as any part of the AO window leaves the main desktop.

We've known that for years, the problem is that without windowed mode you can't use tools like clicksaver because they will get stuck in the same window as AO

I thought I could post an update on this one as I still have it.
Ok... Wine 1.3.21 NVidia 275.09.07 Ubuntu 11.04 (KDE 4.6.4) AO 18.4.5
In windowed mode, when part of the AO windows goes out of the display (draging it), AO crashes.

--- Comment #12 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-11-13 16:48:16 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
