Bug ID: 57278 Summary: wininet errors 12029 + 12057 Product: Wine Version: 8.0.1 Hardware: arm OS: MacOS Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wininet Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: rmkk@atlas.cz
Hi, I decided to ask for help people on this forum. I lost my .wine prefix by change, so I was forces to create a new one and install my one and only windows program I used to work with. My platform is MacOS on ARM and MacOS on Intel. On both platforms I experienced the same problem.
Steps - remove existing wine directory (rm ~/.wine) - install the software (wine xxx.msi) - run the software (wine ... x.exe) - now my software needs to connect to reposity (https://xxx:4443) -- after approx. a minute of waiting I'm getting following error to console window: 0024:err:wininet:open_http_connection create_netconn failed: 12029
-- after next minute I'm getting another error into console window 0024:fixme:wininet:WININET_InvalidCertificateDialog No message for error 12057
-- + dialog window saying "There is a problem with certificate for this site. do you want to continue anyway ? YES/NO". So I confimed this question with YES. But nothing changes, connection does not work.
I'm sure there is not problem on remote side, because 3 days before it works fine on my previous .wine prefix that was lost by chance :-(
So my question is how to allow connection to this site, for example to make it as Trusted or something like that. I already make lot of things but with no success.
Thanks for help !!!

--- Comment #5 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Are you sure you put in the correct details? With your example from comment 4 I get a crash on Wine 9.19 on Arch Linux.
I noticed that, after installing the program, there are a bunch of files missing from the installation compared to windows. This is bug 55914 all over again (and I hate it).
In short, work around bug 55914 and it should work fine on latest Wine. Can you please retest?

--- Comment #6 from Radim Kolek rmkk@atlas.cz --- Ok, so I tried to use latest stable wine from brew, however it even fails to create a new prefix, what I've done ... - brew install --cask wine-stable - rm -rf ~/.wine - WINEPREFIX=~/.wine WINEARCH=win64 wine --version -> wine-9.0 - WINEPREFIX=~/.wine WINEARCH=win64 wine cmd -> wine: created the configuration directory '/Volumes/Data/Radim Home/.wine' -> 0024:err:environ:run_wineboot failed to start wineboot c00000e5 -> zsh: killed WINEPREFIX=~/.wine WINEARCH=win64 wine cmd
I tried few several things like "wine explorer", "wine control", "winecfg" ... all is failing with ... -> 0024:err:environ:run_wineboot failed to start wineboot c00000e5 -> zsh: killed winecfg

--- Comment #7 from Radim Kolek rmkk@atlas.cz --- Because it is not possible to retest my issue on latest wine because creation of brand new wineprefix is failing (comment 6) I decided to test it on official paid version of CrossOver, for this purpose I downloaded a trial version and created a new bottle with EA installation. Still it is not possible to connect to https EA repository, the symptoms seems to be the same as reported before, connection hangs for approx 1 minute etc. I cannot provide logs because I do not know how to access command window, sorry. Hope this helps a little.

--- Comment #8 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- FWIW, crossover might not have the fixes yet. It would be best if you could get latest Wine to work on your system, maybe consider asking on the forums or IRC?

--- Comment #9 from Radim Kolek rmkk@atlas.cz --- So I'm confirming an issue even on the latest wine, behaviour is the same I described in Description above. HTTP connection works fine, HTTPS connection hangs ...

--- Comment #10 from Radim Kolek rmkk@atlas.cz --- Resolved.
Details: - I ran EA.exe with WINEDEBUG=+seh,+winhttp,+winsock,+wininet - debug log shows that download of certificate failed ... 0024:trace:wininet:urlcache_entry_get_file entry "http://**.*****.**/static/policy/CA%20****%20G2%2002.crt" not found! - so I downloaded missing certificate in manual way - then: wine control -> Internet setting -> Content -> Certificates -> Trusted Root Certification Authorities -> Import -> CA ***** G2 02.crt -> Open -> Automaticaly select certificate store -> Finish - HTTPS connection works fine now

--- Comment #12 from Radim Kolek rmkk@atlas.cz --- I'm closing it, because I have a workaround. Still this is issue because on Windows everything works fine = there is no need to manually download and install any certificate.

--- Comment #13 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Well, for me it works, so not sure what to do here.
