Upgrade to 0.9.49 and retest.
The bug is always present on wine 0.58 Make the "updated to 1.2" game crash after the "start menu" while version 1.0 run fine maybe the no-cd crack is involved...

The demo also hangs on exit, in Wine-1.1.43. You can find the link to the demo in comment #2. 'winetricks d3dx9' was needed to run the game (without native dx libraries the game showed only a black screen on startup).
