There are other rendering issues which persist after this patch - should there be a separate bug for them?
All the rendering issues described here has to do with z sorting and scissorrect. So I think this bug should be renamed and new bugs should be created for the other rendering issues (with good names).
In short, yes.

--- Comment #12 from warkosign@hotmail.com 2008-09-08 15:41:33 --- The patch for z ordering listed here (as well as the one listed at the "interface not rendered properly" bug) solved the z-order issue for me, but now mouse cursor is not visible unless it's in the leftmost position - very hard even to exit the game, not to mention actually playing.
I believe it's something wrong with my build, but what could possibly do ?

/home/zbyte/spore.diff:37: trailing whitespace.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15149
--- Comment #14 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2008-09-12 11:04:34 --- This is fixed by commit http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=commit;h=d51ea0115913daa630ad64a0b2... , isn't it? This commit fixed the depthstencil issue.
So no custom patch should be applied!

--- Comment #19 from md mojedokumenty@gmail.com 2008-09-20 08:41:35 --- Do not close the bug yet, just found a black texture bug in 1.1.5:
There is a small snag in a clean 1.1.5 as compared to a patched 1.1.4:
In the tribal phase, some creatures (the player's own in my case) are missing textures (untextured black), no matter what graphical settings are used. It might be a bit of a problem to reproduce this bug, since every player has a creature of different complexity.
The culprit is definitely in the diffs between patched 1.1.4 & 1.1.5. And for the record, the patch I'm using on 1.1.4 is this one: bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15883. I run spore without the '-safe' option in both cases.

--- Comment #20 from Jonathan agentc0re@gmail.com 2008-09-20 13:40:56 --- I am still having to apply the patch. Without it, certain planets show "transparent spots" I think it's the rivers not rendering. Anyways, the patch still applies with latest GIT, so i don't think it's been committed.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15149
--- Comment #21 from md mojedokumenty@gmail.com 2008-09-20 14:29:52 --- It seems the patch has not been committed to 1.1.5.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15149
--- Comment #22 from md mojedokumenty@gmail.com 2008-09-21 04:49:52 --- The patch for spore from 1.1.4 causes severe rendering issues in 1.1.5 (water rendered over all land in tribal phase).
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15149
--- Comment #23 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2008-09-21 06:00:16 --- The patch ( bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15883 ) in this form would never be applied, because it is wrong!
@MD: Bug about black creatures: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14921
@Jonathan: Bug about the river: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15205
Again this is fixed, because we have only one issue per bug.

--- Comment #24 from md mojedokumenty@gmail.com 2008-09-21 06:07:25 --- I perhaps forgot to mention that I 'ported' the patch to 1.1.5, it does patch correctly but introduces problems in the game. No use posting it since it does not work.
