Summary: Two Worlds multiplayer cannot create or join a game Product: Wine Version: 1.3.0 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=30160) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=30160) terminal output
In the multiplayer mode of Two Worlds I cannot join or create a game. I can successfully login to the server and enter the game lobby (the town) and chat with other players, but when I click on Join or Create a game, nothing happens.
The attached log shows the terminal output. The following components were installed via winetricks in order to start the game and play the videos: 'd3dx9 physx xact wmp9 quartz'.
Fedora 13 Nvidia 7600 GT card / driver 195.36.31

--- Comment #1 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2010-08-15 03:23:02 --- Seeing the Directplay related fixmes in the console, I installed directplay through winetricks, but the issue still persists. After that the fixme:dpnet lines disappeared, only the following lines remained: fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0xfffffffe): stub fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x208): stub
They are generated each time I click on the Join or Create a game button in the multiplayer menu of the game. I wonder what debug channel(s) I should try to get closer to the issue.

--- Comment #4 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-07-24 01:16:12 CDT --- Still can't connect to multiplayer games in Wine-1.3.25.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24010
--- Comment #5 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-08-16 12:18:02 CDT --- Might be related so I'd like to note that Louis Lenders wrote 3 patches which fix bug #28008. With those patches applied I see the following changes when trying to connect to a multiplayer game in Two Worlds:
1) the game responds with a 'Connection failed' message if I try to connect to a game (this has never seen before) 2) the dplay related fixmes in the terminal changed into: fixme:dpnet:IDirectPlay8PeerImpl_GetSPCaps (0x611354b0)->(0xabbd60,0xaa8f04,0): stub fixme:dpnet:IDirectPlay8PeerImpl_SetPeerInfo (0x611354b0)->(0x1b6f570,(nil),(nil),80000000): stub fixme:dpnet:IDirectPlay8PeerImpl_Host (0x611354b0)->(0x1b6f594,0xaa8698,1,(nil),(nil),(nil),0): stub
Joining to a multiplayer game is still not working, even if native directplay components are installed.

--- Comment #6 from cliff1000000@gmail.com 2012-10-12 20:51:25 CDT --- I'm having the same problem. I can play single player just fine but when I go online I can not join or create network games. I installed via winetricks wininit xact d3dx9_36 WMP 9 & 10 I also downloaded wvc1dmod.dll to my system32 folder & registered it "wine regsvr32 wvc1dmod.dll"
I tried Wine-1.4.1 & Wine-1.5.14 Two worlds version is 1.7 I am using Debian Stable XFCE with Nvidia driver 304.51
Thanks Cliff

I have the GOG version of the game but the serial number given by GOG in 2010 is no longer valid (required by the multiplayer part of Two Worlds). I requested a new serial number from GOG, I will report back when I can retest this bug.

The winning combo: current git + patch + 'winetricks directplay'
Without your patch from bug #20041 I'm still getting a 'Connection failed' error when trying to host a game (even though native dplay is installed).
Tested with wine-1.7.40-99-gdc22283

Ok, thanks. Resolving as duplicate to centralize the issue.
