Summary: [S.T.A.L.K.E.R] Bug with -dsound (blocking device?) Product: Wine Version: 0.9.6. Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ggrabler@gmail.com
I'm experiencing problems with patch 1.0006 and the -dsound option.
Following strange thing occurs: -> I'm using kde4 -> Wine is configured to use ALSA -> esound (esd) disabled -> starting stalker with -dsound option -> First movie plays sound -> 2nd movie plays no sound -> no sound in the menu -> adding -nointro -> sound in the menu -> when starting a new game, the sound seems to "lock up", not continueing playing / starting to loop the past 1-2 secs -> I'm getting the following error (after the sound locked up): err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x1ad3f60 "?" wait timed out in thread 001b, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec)
Seems as if my output device got blocked - allthough, it's playing the OLD sound (of the menu) and blocks the device with this. Some time later, the sound stops, and another few secs later the error above occurs.

--- Comment #3 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-06-07 10:31:32 --- Please upgrade Wine and try again. There was a regression in ALSA driver. I'm not seeing your problem with wine-1.0-rc4.

--- Comment #4 from Georg Grabler ggrabler@gmail.com 2008-06-08 06:20:37 --- I'm even experiencing the same problem with wine-1.0-rc4
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13696
--- Comment #5 from Georg Grabler ggrabler@gmail.com 2008-06-08 06:34:16 --- Now, on wine-1.0-rc4 the following was tested:
-> KDE4 - esd (esound daemon) disabled: same behaviour as described -> XFCE - sound daemons disabled: same behaviour as described -> GNOME - sound daemons disabled: same behaviour as described -> Pure X session - all sound daemons disabled: same behaviour as described.
I doubt it's connected to any sound daemon / sound system. I think It's a bug for real.

--- Comment #6 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-06-08 12:15:52 --- What sound driver is select in winecfg->audio? Do you have any other program using sound?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13696
--- Comment #7 from Georg Grabler ggrabler@gmail.com 2008-06-08 14:15:27 --- The selected driver is ALSA.
No, no other programs were running at all. Just a plain X session.

--- Comment #9 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-07-24 21:17:11 --- Still there? I need the output of the above command. Of course when the problem happens.
Also what kernel and did you modify it any way or is this default prebuilt kernel?
