I tried with Vertex / Pixelshaders and GLSL on and off nothing changes.

tested with wine 1.1.10 build from source on Kubuntu 8.10 x86_64 installed from DVD BF2 still crashes but you can start the game by replacing original EXE with NODVDFixedEXE and using the Launcher.exe. Starting the NoDVDFixedEXE directly will not work !

If it uses secorum 7, then it's a dupe of 7065
