Bug #: 28848 Summary: PCSX2 0.9.9 svn r4942: Using GSDX plugin results in garbled graphics Product: Wine Version: 1.3.31 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dredgingthelake@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 37056 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=37056 GSDX garbled graphical output
PCSX2 svn with the latest GSDX video plugin results in garbled graphics. Sometimes the glitches take the form of a meshed together mix of applications previously run, or the screen is just covered in random pixels. Just broken messed up output in any case. This occurs with the DX9 hardware renderer but also the DX9 software renderer, and sdl renderer (so all GSDX renderers are broken) Plugin works fine in windows, and (much) older versions from 2009 or earlier work fine.
It's also broken with the current stable release of pcsx2 (0.9.8) so that version can also be used to test for this bug.
Tested with: wine: 1.3.31, 1.2 and 1.1.26. nvidia-drivers: 290.03, 285.05.09, 275.09.07
Gentoo ~AMD64
Screenshot and terminal output are attached.

--- Comment #2 from DL dredgingthelake@gmail.com 2011-10-23 21:13:14 CDT --- I'm not sure if this is helpful but when starting pcsx2 with WINEDEBUG=warn+all and running a game with the latest version of GSDX, I get a heap of these messages:
warn:d3d:wined3d_device_draw_primitive Called without a valid vertex declaration set.
This message does not appear with the older (working) versions of gsdx.

--- Comment #5 from DL dredgingthelake@gmail.com 2011-10-28 01:47:59 CDT --- The window also jumps/flickers in a strange way when run with the window manager, ratpoison. It doesn't do this with other window managers, but it may suggest that the issue is window related.

--- Comment #6 from DL dredgingthelake@gmail.com 2011-10-28 22:40:35 CDT --- Issue doesn't occur when using the nouveau driver, so it's probably a driver bug.

Bug doesn't occur with wine-1.4 and above.
Was it fixed in wine or nvidia? As comment 6 says it was probably related to drivers. If it was in the driver the bug should be resolved as upstream, if was fixed in wine it should be marked as fixed.

--- Comment #9 from DL dredgingthelake@gmail.com 2012-03-22 01:54:14 CDT --- No it was a wine bug, fixed somewhere between 1.3.29 and 1.4. Bug still occurs with wine-1.3.29, so it must be a wine issue.
